Dream Center Services 2019
Employment Internship Program
An eight-week training program that teaches the basics of acquiring and retaining long-term employment. The classes focus on character development, job readiness and financial literacy.
Dream Center provides a hot breakfast every Sunday (with the exception of the first Sunday) at the New Life Ghent Campus. Guests arrive at 7:00a and breakfast is served from 7:30 to 8:15a.
A weekly time of fellowship and meals tied together with the Employment Training Program. Guests arrive at 5:30p, and meals are served from 6:00 to 6:45p.
Dream Center meets every Friday morning at 7:00a. at the New Life Ghent Campus to offer showers to those in need. The Dream Center provides a towel, underclothes, and toiletries. We carpool together from the Ghent campus to the Y on Granby; after everyone is finished we drive to the Freemason Street Baptist Church for breakfast
The Dream Center provides free laundry services at the New Life Ghent Campus from 9:00a to 2:00p. Individuals can come on a first-come, first-served basis to do one load of laundry.
Rental Application Fee Assistance
As a way to contribute to ending homelessness, the Dream Center will help those looking for housing by offering financial assistance towards the application fee required for renting an apartment. This is a service exclusively for our Employment Internship Program graduates.
The Dream Center partners with Virginia Career Works byproviding assistance to those searching for employment opportunities. Our Dream Center navigators will meet those interested in employment and help to facilitate the process from beginning to end.
The Dream Center provides used furniture for those who receive housing as part of the Employment Training Program. Individuals will be given furniture based upon their needs at the time.
The Samaritan Project
The Dream Center provides a Samaritan to each participant in the Employment Training Program. Samaritans are mentors who spend one hour per week providing emotional support and a listening ear.
The Dream Center offers housing to Employment Training Program graduates. We actively partner with landlords seeking subsidized rent from the City of Norfolk.
he Dream Center partners with Bank On Hampton Roads to offer all the education, support, and encouragement needed for financial plans. This program is designed to help participants to increase their financial literacy.
Narcotics Anonymous Class
The Dream Center partners with the City of Norfolk to provide addiction recovery services to anyone in need throughout the year.
It Ain’t Over
The Dream Center partners with the Norfolk Jail Ministry and offers a support group for women who have been incarcerated. They meet every Monday night at 6:30p at the New Life Ghent Campus.
